Windows 7 – Basic Performance Enhancement

To remove default transparency from Windows please follow the directions below:

Right click anywhere on your windows desktop.


On the menu that pops up select
This will open up a window for “Appearance and Personalization”.
You may see icons representing different things than shown in the example but not to worry.
You should see something like:

From here locate , It is near at the bottom of the window in roughly the middle.
Click on this button.
It will open up a new window that looks something like

Below all of the colour selectors notice the check box. 
Deselect this ().
At the bottom of the window press the save changes button and notice the changes.

While the changes are subtle this dramatically improves performance for the average user.

A second way to do this is for the more advanced user.
- Click on the start menu
- Right click on computer and select “Properties”
- In the window that pops up select “Advanced System Settings” from the top left.
- In the new window that opens click on the Settings button in the performance area(the top)
- This opens a further window with several radio buttons at the top, select “Adjust for best performance”
- Hit apply and close all windows that have opened in this process.
